It is not safe to use a larger wattage bulb in a fixture than what is specified on the fixture rating label or information. The wattage on the fixture rating label has been tested and approved to Underwriters Lab UL1838 specifications.

NO. Over-lamping is not an option. The plastic LX1 fixtures have not been tested by UL / CSA with 7W bulbs. Using the higher wattage bulb could result in overheating the fixture and exceeding the rated temperature of the plastic material.

These lights get very hot and any covering could cause a fire hazard. The glass should not be replaced as the glass that comes with the light is a special high temperature glass. There are web sites that sell colored MR16 bulbs which are be a better solution.

Malibu low voltage lights are designed to be used in all weather and all seasons. They can be left in the cold and snow without any problems.

Replace bulbs that have burned out. Not replacing bulbs increases the in-rush effect on the remaining lights. In colder climates, the fixtures may need to be straightened to a vertical position in the spring because of frost heave. The fixtures can be cleaned with soapy water if desired. Mineral build up and spotting on lights from sprinklers can be removed with a solution of vinegar and water.
