• I just bought an outdoor lighting kit 210931. The cable is way too long for my sidewalk. Instead of coiling, can the cable be cut and taped over with electrical tape?

  The cable can be cut to length.  Leave at least 12 inches of slack cable beyond the last light fixture.  Make sure to cut the cable clean, as any strands from one conductor touching the other conductor will cause problems.  The end does not have to be taped. 

• Can I use plastic low voltage lights with my cast metal set?

  Yes. Plastic, metal, walk lights, floodlights, can all be mixed on a low voltage landscape lighting installation as long as they are rated for outdoor use and are 12 volts.  Just make sure the sum of the existing plus new fixture bulb watts is less than the power pack's wattage rating.

• Can I mix different bulb types and wattages in a low voltage installation?

  Yes. All 12V halogen and wedge base bulbs can be used together as long as the sum of all the bulb wattages is less than the power pack’s rated wattage.

• How many lights can I add to an installation?

  As many as are desired as long as the sum of all the bulb watts is less than the power pack’s rated wattage.
